Workflow & Production with Cesar Lador

In this workshop, Cesar will go over:

• Introduction and background
• Process of working traditionally with ink and watercolors
• Workflow refinement to increase efficiency
• Personal Learnings and challenges with my first few traditionally published graphic novel

Cesar Lador bio:

I was born and grew up in a small village in Switzerland, spent countless hours exploring the forest, the streams, and the mountains with friends. I was always surrounded by comic books including the worldwide famous Asterix and Obelix, Tintin, The Smurfs but also all the other comics that make up the rich and diverse European Comic book scene.

 I enrolled in a comic book making school in 1998 but ended up changing my mind at the last minute to travel the world and discover other cultures. A few years later, I decided that I wanted to be part of the solution rather than the problem, so I went back to Switzerland to study environmental engineering.

A few years later with a fresh diploma in tow, I left Switzerland to visit New Zealand for 6 months with a backpack. I worked there for 15 years as an engineer while drawing at night and in 2023, I was offered a contract to illustrate the first two comic books of a series. More recently, I signed a contract to illustrate number 3 and 4 🙂
