Build better characters with a BEACH episode
August 11 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm EDT
It’s our pay-as-you-wish Tuesday evening draw jam!! A.k.a. super chill comics drawing workshop.
Let’s draw with Cheyenne!
Think you know your characters? Join Cheyenne Smith to dive even deeper into character design, dialog, and backstory using the “beach episode” storytelling device. By the end of this draw jam, you’ll have a short mini comic, as well as a better understanding of your characters and their world – no sunburn required!
(What is the beach episode trope? In tv, animation, and anime, “beach episodes” take characters out of their normal environment to relax, let loose, and take a pause from the overarching plot.)
Cheyenne Smith is an author-illustrator from Austin, Texas who got her start in comics as an editorial cartoonist. She’s currently working on her debut graphic novel, HELL ON WHEELS, for Random House Graphic, as well as editing the annual horror anthology, Splintermouth.
