To the End
Twelve year old Daisy believes that the mythical Forest Guardians are real and once interacted with humans, and she’s determined to prove it. Investigating carvings and clues in her hometown ruins is a great distraction from family drama and best-friend problems. Her dreams come true when she meets Webster, a real-life Forest Guardian who falls into the human world and needs Daisy’s help to get back home. Webster’s presence brings more questions than it answers and - unbeknownst to Daisy - he’s keeping a very important secret. A secret that could effect the very safety of both their worlds. The search for a way back to the Treetops unravels a bigger mystery than even Daisy could imagine.

The story is a lot of things, and a lot of pieces of me. The setting in TO THE END is loosely based on the neighborhood I grew up in. My friends and I spent a lot of time in the creek and exploring, and for me it was an escape. Daisy’s situation in the book is a combination of things from my life and friends of mine, and even though some of it is heavy, I think all kids can relate. Growing up, all of us had things going on but it didn’t stop us from living, it didn’t stop us from having adventures. We needed the adventures, or at least I did. Lastly, in a lot of ways it’s a book about grief. We have to say good-bye so many times through out our lives. But when ever you reach the end of something, you can choose to keep going.
