Addie Vs Eve
Best friends Addie and Eve find themselves on opposite ends of a protest campaign, when their school decides to build a theatre over a nature reserve. For Eve, a new theatre would mean she finally has access to a future her family can’t afford to give her. For Addie, the reserve gives her autism some respite- and although she won’t admit it, she can’t help but worry about theatre taking her best friend away from her.
Both the protest and personal feelings only get more heated, when other kids in school start to take sides- some with their own ulterior motives! When fighting for what you believe in brings out big feelings, will Addie and Eve manage to find a way to compromise, mend their friendship, and truly understand each other?

Much like Addie and Eve during their journey in this story, I sometimes care so much about trying to help change the world that I get emotionally worn out! It’s during these moments that I’m reminded how helping the friends and family in your life is just as important as the ‘bigger’ causes, and creates ripple effects.
I think modern kids (and adults too!) are more aware and active in various causes than ever before, but they’re also very stressed. I wanted to share a story that explores the complex and often very personal feelings that come with activism, and how we bring our insecurities into these things. But I want especially to explore this in a fun, down to earth school drama with loveable and relatable characters!

I am a comic artist and illustrator working from the UK. Some of my previous published work includes ‘How to Be Ace’, ‘Speak Up!’ and ‘Being Autistic’. I love telling stories so much that I do it in my spare time too! I’m currently sharing my passion for history via a webcomic about the French Revolution. Outside of drawing and cuddling my cat, I also love playing RPGs with friends, going on deep dives into history and growing vegetables in my humble Bristol flat.
