Mortified
Just before Halloween, shy Lisa’s eccentric little sister, Biscuit, accidentally performs a demonic ritual which brings Lisa’s top-secret diary full of embarrassing horror fiction and sexy day dreams to life, spitting out all the monsters and characters from her stories. She must now team up with her little sister, and the new misfit members of Biscuit’s Halloween rock band, to save the town from the ravaging monsters she has kept hidden for so long. By fighting her literal inner monsters, Lisa comes face-to-face with embarrassment, grief, acceptance, and, eventually, connection to others through her vulnerability - and just maybe she will end up joining her sister’s quirky band.

160My Why:
Mortified is born from our own experiences growing up as fearless kids who turned into anxious teens. We know firsthand how shame and fear can hold you back and isolate you, and we’ve learned through our own experiences that embracing your flaws can turn them into sources of strength. And the big secret is, we are all weird! Through our story we want to help kids, teens, and even adults, feel less alone, empowering them to be unapologetically themselves. We want readers of our story to learn that it’s ok to feel embarrassment and that you can find strength in embracing it, rather than burying yourself in shame.

We are Sarah and Tzook, two comic artists and writers who graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in Graphic Storytelling in 2021. We have worked as artists in video games, animation, and as illustrators. We like to explore different styles of storytelling, both together in collaboration and separately. We love writing rich stories with fun characters and love drawing, whether it’s for our own stories or for others. When we don’t create we like to hike, watch wildlife, and hang out with friends.
