The Pibble Brothers
When two misunderstood pit bulls find themselves between loss and second chances, chaos and love will follow. After one pit bull is surrendered to a shelter when a new baby arrives, another struggles at home after losing his longtime canine companion. A compassionate shelter volunteer brings the grieving family and the displaced dog together. The two pit bulls become brothers, forming a joyful but impulsive duo whose lack of self-control leads to sticky, often funny situations that may test their family’s patience, but provide important learning opportunities. Through hijinks, mishaps, and heartfelt moments, young readers find that empathy, responsibility, and resilience matter—and why misunderstood dogs deserve loving homes.

I’m the kind of person who knows all the neighborhood dogs by name, but rarely their humans. Living with dogs, especially our Boxer–Pit mix, has taught me powerful lessons through funny mishaps, quiet bonds, and a few scary moments that made me a better owner. This graphic novel is my way of honoring the dogs I’ve loved while teaching middle grade readers how to care for a dog. My goal for this book is to help kids learn empathy, responsibility, and joy by following two slightly mischievous, and misjudged pit bulls—and feel confident sharing what they’ve learned when their family brings home a new dog.

Hi, I’m Sara, and I was born without an H…in my name. I’ve drawn and written stories throughout life. I studied Fiction Writing at Columbia College and built myself a career as Graphic Designer and Illustrator. I share my comics in zines and my weekly newsletter. In 1985 my Mom and Grandma brought home my first Boxer, Sam, and I have not lived a day without a dog since. My husband, daughter, and I share our home with our two dogs, one of which brought us a new rabbit friend last night.
