The Ballad of Meteor Pete
There was a time when legends walked the spaceways! Meteor Pete McGraw was the most legendary of all—but now he's reduced to busking for coins on a grubby space station. A group of kids are drawn in by his eccentric ways, and he starts to regale them with tales of his adventures across the solar system—gondoliering on the canals of Mars, working in a green cheese restaurant on the moon, courting the Queen of Venus, and, most amazing of all, discovering the legendary golden asteroid of Cashpot, guarded by dark forces that would turn your hair white to see 'em...

150-200My Why:
Adam's had a lifelong love of tall tales of the American frontier (and other places), the ridiculous stories built up by braggarts and unreliable narrators, inflated into ridiculousness. He's also always had a fondness for science fiction, but also for the goofy 'folklore' that formed around space before it was studied scientifically--canals on Mars, heavenly spheres, and so on. So he figured, why not combine the two?
Our future is shaped by the stories we tell, and increasingly it seems like we're headed for a dreary future, so I think it's important to push back with fun and imagination, the way Pete does. He represents lying your way to the truth--why wouldn't we call someone like that a hero, by cracky?
