Of Jowls and Fowls
The small Murmel Sio (part marmot, part flying squirrel) dreams of massive jowls and daring deeds, but mainly finds trouble. When he dares to climb down a cliff, coming snout-to-beak with a downed Hawk he dubs 'Crash', his trouble starts. Upon returning Crash to their home, a beholden Hawk mother returns the favor by depositing Sio near his Burrow. His trouble turns into Murmel trouble when the search party sees her, mistaking her for an Owl. Since Owls eat Murmels, the sighting sends his Burrow into an uproar, bringing Harvest to a halt, putting their winter food in peril. Luckily, Sio figures out a way to repel an Owl, which his Burrow chooses to try to continue Harvest. When an Owl does strike, they are ready, with a little hawk help.

Living as an expatriate in the land of Gingerbread meant little access to English media. After running out of reading material for my child, I was inspired to write the adventure he would have enacted, if he were a furry critter.
Working abroad in a non-native language, one learns that communication is based on background, clarity, and delivery. Many times, you have to use your entire body to visually communicate. The beauty of comics is they tell stories in one or more pictures that we can all understand.
