Memento
“Mementos” are contracts forged by the higher powers that have reality warping capabilities, despite looking like ordinary sheets of paper. But when a bunch are scattered across Triopolis City, it’s only a matter of time until someone unknowingly gets their hands on one. Such is the case of Chase Langston, who accidentally gives himself and his friends superpowers, and more troublingly, spawns supervillains into his world. As if high school wasn’t hard enough, Chase must now fight against evil with his newfound powers and clean up the mess he’s unknowingly made. He’ll soon learn, however, that growing up and discovering himself is just as hard as maintaining his secret identity and stopping the villain of the week.

Memento is a story about growing up. We see the characters go all the way through their high school years, and I wanted to tell a relatable story that people could connect with through the medium of superheroes. We’d see these characters not only learn about themselves, but accept themselves as well. Topics like loneliness, queer identity, insecurity, and internal struggles are explored throughout the series. Some of these are things that I had gone through myself when I was in high school so I know that this story can connect with and, hopefully, help people going through hard times by seeing how these characters overcome these relatable issues.
