G1, Inventor Bot
On a planet made of metal, utility arms assemble G1. But the feisty robot comes online far too soon for their liking. Convinced its database is perfect, G1 is eager to begin its robot life as a builder. The utility arms disagree, intent on finishing its programming, but G1 wants none of that. G1 escapes and sets off to prove its building skills.
G1 shows off daring wheelie ramps and clunky vehicles to a new friend. Beams collapse, nails pop out, and Juno is nearly crushed. Each time, Juno fixes G1’s mistakes, but G1 never notices and takes the credit.
When G1 tries to build something alone, it explodes in a smoky disaster. The robot’s confidence shatters. Forced to face its limits, G1 wonders if even a “top bot” might need a partner.
Age Range:
Middle Grade (approx ages 9-12)Genre:
Adventure, Fiction, Humor, Science FictionPage Count Estimate:
150 pagesMy Why:
I created G1, Inventor Bot, inspired by watching my daughter with Down syndrome and her neurodivergent friends navigate a world that often underestimates them, despite how capable and creative they are. The story is about recognizing the abilities you have and making the most of them. I aimed to make the graphic novel easy to follow and full of adventure, humor, and heart, so reluctant readers like I once was could dive in and stick with the story.
