The Last Journey
Cromwell, an old warrior, lives in peace with his daughter Linda until a snake bite takes her life. Consumed by guilt he seeks revenge against Death, who shatters his sword and transforms him into a skeleton, casting him into The Lands, a dark place where lost souls drift.
To bring Linda back, he sets out to reforge his blade and challenge Death again. Along the way, he meets others searching for their own reason for being there. After finding relief in companionship, his rage resurfaces, driving him back to Death. There, he realizes that, instead of indulging in revenge, he must honor his immense loss by accepting it. Rather than dulling his grief with hatred, he learns to live with it. In doing so, he finally finds his way to the Beyond.

The Last Journey stems from a turbulent time of obsession with productivity, where I feared falling behind if I ever rested. The main character's journey is my own: being so blinded by a goal that I forgot to simply live. To convey my message to a younger audience, I used a simple structure and a toy-like design to create a dark fable I would have loved as a child. Beyond personal healing, I would love for readers to discover that despite the pain, we are surrounded by beauty. In our noisy era, and in a world shaken by forces beyond control, this wants to be a meditative invitation to slow down, let go of the need for control, and embrace the 'during' in our lives, searching for meaning even beyond death.
