The Search for Liliya and the Red Broom
KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE meets INDIANA JONES in this MG magical modern adventure, THE SEARCH FOR LILIYA AND THE RED BROOM.
After 13-year-old Liliya is caught flying the legendary Red Broom by a renegade Wise at her new school, she’s transformed into a crow and tossed into their secret Companion Trials. If you win: you get your life back and a scholarship to Wyndward Academia, an elite college of magic. If you lose: you’re shape-shifted for the rest of your life.
Unable to fly and cursed to tell lies until the game is over, Liliya finds an unexpected ally in the young feral cat she once helped. Forced to team up with other transformed students, the kids and their unique companions must hunt for an ancient relic together to win the game.

320+ pagesMy Why:
Escape and Adventure! Characters that face tough challenges while in the middle of strange adventures that at first may seem impossible to overcome, but with the help of friends in unexpected places they find a way…are often the stories I love to read, which is why I want to write them. Toss in a blend of my interests: magic and science, animals real and imagined, twisty mysteries with untidy secrets, unique worlds with almost familiar settings inspired by places I’ve been; as well as the dynamics of sibling relationships, and the experiences of being the new kid in a very different kind of school…I hope readers will enjoy my stories as much as I do the creating of them.
Tanja Wooten
Tanja Wooten’s creative career is diverse and varied, much like her experiences growing up as a military brat in the US and Europe: she moved often and met people from many cultures, whether as the new kid (14+ different schools) or as a consultant specialist for clients with international teams. This often inspires her stories as author-illustrator for her MG/YA projects. Her publishing credits range from comic book art to k-12 educational multimedia and textbooks (art/animation).
