ANTS AND OTHER SHORT STORIES
The ants arrived a few at a time but as the summer passed, more ant hills formed. Something strange was going on. It was an ant war! Although there were casualties on both sides, the war seemed never ending. What was exciting at first, became a nightmarish stream of ants, thousands deep. We had to leap over the ant-river, lest be bitten. My father took quick action, pouring hot water down each ant mound. Somehow, though, the ants were unphased. They continued building their dirt fortresses. My father was outraged! On one memorable day, my father blowtorched the entire lawn. The ants were gone, but so was our green lush backyard. Read ANTs and other humorous stories in this all-true collection about growing up in a small town called Combville.

When I was in the 4th grade, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Reading was and still is very difficult for me. I found myself seeking out books that were collections of short stories, such as Roald Dahl’s Boy, which provided easier goals to accomplish--a beginning, middle, and end in one sitting. Reading should be a fun experience, even for the most “reluctant” of readers! I want to make reading fun and effortless and even addictive.
