Monstrously Me: Zom!
In a world full of monsters, Zom is SUPPOSED to be terrifying. Turns out that he can’t even scare a baby, and the Queen of Monsterworld is not too happy about that! As ordered by the Queen, Zom sets out on a questionable journey to become more “scary”– as monsters should be. But along the way, he encounters unexpected new friends, a violent sea monster, and challenges that test the essence of who Zom really is.
MONSTEROUSLY ME: ZOM! is the tale of Zom’s journey to embrace his individuality and where he learns that it’s okay to be himself, even if that means going against the pressure from those around him.

I created MONSTEROUSLY ME: ZOM! because it is the story I would have liked to read when I was a kid.
Through cute monster characters, I wanted to explore themes of kindness, self-acceptance, and individuality in a fun way.
I believe every kid should feel comfortable being themselves, even if that means not fitting a certain mold. Zom's story shows that it's what's inside that matters.
Over the past year, refining and working on bringing Zom's world to life has been a joy as an aspiring published comic artist. I hope this story entertains readers as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it!
Ashley Vargas
Hi, my name is Ashley Vargas and I am a Dominican, NYC-based artist. I’ve always had a huge passion for comics and graphic novels. I remember the first time my mom took me to the public library as a child, and it was there that I saw a graphic novel for the first time. Since then, I’ve been drawing my own comics and coming up with characters and stories.
In my spare time, I can be found working on my webcomic, thinking of new comic ideas, or developing indie games!
