Lumi & The Moonlight Gang
Lumi is an astral kitten who challenges the carnivorous ways of the food chain in a small mountain town. Misadventures abound as he befriends an unlikely group of strays who help him discover the origin of his “mysterical” powers. Fellow stray Cheddar teaches him street smarts, but their differing philosophies and diets make for a bumpy beginning to the new friendship. Meanwhile, cynical and superior house-cat Phil preaches the Path of the Pet, a guide to animal refinement. When they can put their differences aside they swipe human food, avoid animal control, and struggle to survive in a world that isn’t kind to strays all while embarking on a celestial quest to uncover Lumi’s birthright as an Astral Animal.

In 2020 while fighting the biggest fire of the year in Southern Oregon, a siamese kitten ran from the flames, crawled onto my brother’s shoulder and held on tight as he and his crew attempted to save the burning town. For the next four days my brother fed the tiny cat and planned to take him back to his station, however, when the time came to ship out there was no sign of the little fuzzball. After two more months of fighting fires, with no news from the humane society, my brother added two hours to his drive home to Montana in order to investigate the town one last time. After a day of searching he found the kitten being cared for by a Humboldt County hippie and brought him home to live with my parents. Real life Lumi inspired the project!

From watching a typhoon make landfall atop Mt. Fuji to living outside of Iquitos, Peru in the Amazon jungle for a month, I’ve lived my life like any good hero’s journey; in a way that brings me into confrontation with my fears in order to transcend those things that hold me back. Since I was a child I’ve struggled with extreme anxiety and stories help me cope more than anything else. I write to give others the same tools I received from the likes of Harry Potter and Star Wars.
