Bugubaga Adventures: Holiday Rescues
Our world's holidays are in danger! But there's hope. 10yo Detective Ellie travels to magical lands and makes diverse friends to stop the holidays from vanishing forever. Will teamwork, bravery and resourcefulness be enough to save the day?
Find out in this collection of action-packed adventures, one for each holiday: Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Diwali, Lunar New Year and more! Ellie teams up with a wizard teddy, a pixie queen, an Egyptian mummy-toddler, a graceful mermaid and an 11yo nature tracker. They solve puzzles, overcome fears, and work together for their goal. Readers may notice a friendship theme similar to Rainbow Magic chapter books and a fabled world like Narnia. Families will pick up the book every holiday, year round!

112My Why:
Good vs Evil? Hero vs Villain? Us vs Them? There's more to people than B&W labels. My family adopts a growth mindset. My kid knows behaviour can change, mistakes can be fixed. With limited books emphasizing that, I decided to create Bugubaga with no evil villains but characters who introspect, give others a chance, and work on their differences.
As an immigrant family, we value diversity. So I injected varied characters and settings with fun facts about history, culture and nature. Edutainment! I've got more ideas for a book series.
At age 3, my kid read her 1st comic with me, taking to it readily! I believe comics can get kids excited about art, words and the world. I hope families will read this book together as their holiday tradition!
