Bad Jobs
Learn how to earn loads of cash with this humorous memoir. First, Meghan tried babysitting. That didn’t go as planned. Meghan’s next job was camp counselor. Unfortunately, kids thought it was fun to run into the street and lie down. Why? Because getting Meghan in trouble was “funny.” The ultimate bad job was the dreaded local nursing home. It wasn’t the high-end sort. It was slightly dirty and the smell of poo and bleach permeated the air. Meghan was given the position of “head chef,” having only written down babysitting as relevant job experience, on her resume. Did young Meghan give a table of elderly diabetics sugared iced tea? Yes, she did. Did she run the dishwasher with flour instead of dish soap? Yes, she did.

My first mission is to create an entertaining read. I want the reader to laugh. As someone who has struggled with A.D.D my whole life, I want to make reading not only enjoyable but effortless. Also, my mom told me recently that she hoped requiring me to work would help me get over my shyness. I was painfully shy and my first jobs were quite traumatic. I hope that telling my “bad job” experiences, using a good dose of humor, can help other kids know that it’s okay to make mistakes. Their first jobs may not go as smoothly as they hope but it’s a rite of passage. It builds character.
