Petal Race
Motorbiking fairy, Rosebud (she/her), is thrilled that the Petal Race is back! With her best friend, the magical mechanic Allium (they/them), she is sure her dream of winning will come true… mostly. Rosebud’s priorities shift when she realises there is a saboteur in the race! With only Allium, and Allium’s new friend, believing what Rosebud has discovered, it is up to them to find the fiend the only way they can – by racing well enough to become a target! Through her investigation Rosebud learns how to deal with jealousy, work with others, accept her limitations, and works to discover the culprit that threatens to destroy the Petal Race!
Petal Race is a Middle Grade fantasy GN about friendship, emotional growth, and believing in yourself.

‘Petal Race’ developed from a story I wrote as a child about an amazing female motorbike racer that championed everything and saved the day. As an adult I wanted to take the story I loved as a child and give the characters flaws and wings. The ‘wings’ part made sense to me because at the age of eight I was passionately into 2 things: fairies and motorbikes. I have wanted to create Petal Race for years, as I wanted a vehicle that would be fun and entertaining for children, and showed a fantastical cast of characters dealing with the same concerns and challenges of friendships and anxiety that come with growing up. Also, fairies racing motorbikes just seemed like a really fun idea!
