88My Why:
I love putting YA twists on stories in the Public Domain. This retelling of corruption, romance, and a future Queen’s rise to power over life and death simmered in the back of my brain for the last two months. Now, I eagerly share with you a few of my personal, original, imagined Answers (and many more Questions) I have growled about since first tearing into Stockton’s classic seed stories in 8th Grade. Life’s not fair — and to write vicious, good fairytales I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Catherine Mary Darensbourg
It all started with college drama — over 20 manuscripts of it! — that ended with 4 of my Plays performed at the 2004 to 2007 Annual Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Competition Semifinals. Not satisfied with making a scene in theatre, I joined SCBWI, Comics Publishing Institute, and Kids Comics Studio. Now I survive on spooky YA stories about the dark and sometimes humorous choices made by the souls of the living to scare my inner-child. I also do light cryptography. I may even get a cat.
