The Windward Inn

In an old seaside village lives the Chevalier family, who run a very peculiar Inn. This Inn is surrounded by a notoriously haunted forest where it is rumored a coven of witches still live and practice black magic. Seventeen year old Rose Chevalier has a heart condition, and wishes more than anything that it were possible for her to choose her own path instead of being forced to stay in the family business, which is all her family seem to think she’ll ever be capable of due to her limitations. She finally gets her chance to prove her worth when she must accept a mission to thwart the coven after they place a deadly curse on her. Although regrettably, her best friend and first love is perhaps their most terrifying member.

My Why:

I created the Windward Inn initially as a way to emotionally cope with my own heart condition when I was placed on medical leave from work a few years ago. Stories have always been a thing of comfort to me, and I wanted to create a story for others with a character who had to cope with the realities of a medical condition without it being the main focus of the plot. I hope that one day this story may find its way to readers who see themselves in Rose and know they are not alone.
