So You Want to Be Brilliant?
Back-row bookworm VICTORIA, having coasted through elementary school, discovers that 6th grade is no cakewalk. Following the shock of her first failure, MS. PRIYA helps Victoria understand the importance of education and effort. Victoria resolves to change her ways, but finds it much harder than expected, especially in math class taught by her nemesis, MR. MACMILLAN. Despite setbacks and frustrations, with help and encouragement from parents and some new front-row friends, Victoria perseveres and finally begins to see some moderate success and satisfaction in her academic pursuits.
This is the first book in a series about Victoria’s academic journey. Throughout the series she shares her hard-learned tips and strategies with the reader.

200My Why:
Like so many kids, I thought school was just something we all had to suffer through. When I finally started to care about my education, I found I didn’t even know how to be a good student. It took me years to recover from and undo bad habits and attitudes solidified earlier.
A lot of the media created for and centered on school-aged kids understandably focuses on social issues in hallways and cafeterias or on life and adventures entirely outside of school. With this story I hope to refocus the spotlight on the classroom and some of the typical challenges faced in the academic part of the school experience. And, with a hearty dose of humor, I hope to offer some relatable role models—ordinary students who try, fail, and then keep trying.
