The Wandering Woodcutter
A wandering lumberjack, accompanied by his caddy who carries his axes in a golf bag, is hired to chop down a giant, evil tree whose roots are turning nearby villagers into zombie-like creatures. In the process of cutting the tree, the lumberjack unwittingly releases a necromancer—an octopus-shaped being—who had been imprisoned within for decades. Realizing he’s made things worse, the lumberjack must now find the last surviving member of the druidic order who originally trapped the necromancer and restore balance before it’s too late.

Comics have always been a part of my life. As a child, the comic section of the library was always my favorite. Now as an adult, it’s the best way I’ve found to express myself. It combines two things I love: drawing and storytelling. I love that anything is possible—action, emotions, ideas. Young readers dive into these stories with genuine enthusiasm, and they truly care about the characters. It fills me with pride to see young readers enjoy the stories I draw so much.
Mathieu Benoit
Mathieu Benoit has been drawing since childhood. In 2011, after over a decade in graphic design, he turned his passion into a career, illustrating children’s books, picture books, and graphic novels for various French-Canadian publishers. While drawing, he listens to weird music or podcasts about history, culture, and comedy. In his spare time, he enjoys creating more comics, sharing personal anecdotes from his early years as a father, featuring his now-teenage daughter.
