René’s spaceship has a problem. Something on the inside is eating away at the wires...

Just when René’s band-aid repairs begin to falter, they accidentally score themselves an extra passenger on their road trip across the star system! Inevitably, René‘s stubbornness allows the ship‘s malfunctions to grow too dangerous for either of them to ignore.

Rewire juxtaposes eerie, suspenseful moments with the bright positivity and connection that René yearns for. Their journey has them meeting new folks, seeing new planets, and sparking a bit of romance with their new quirky and kind-hearted traveling companion. During the course of their trip, René learns that it‘s okay to open up to others and seek help in repairing their ship.

My Why:

Rewire is inspired by my journey with mental health and anxiety. Growing up, my anxiety felt like this thing that was growing out of control and that I had to deal with alone. I hope to encourage young people facing their own mental health challenges to lean on their loved ones and seek support.

I also wanted to feature a nonbinary protagonist who explores facets of their life other than their gender. It's important to me to show LGBT+ folks as dimensional and confronting the same problems as everyone else.

I'm making the graphic novel that I would have loved to read as a teenager, with a message that I really needed to hear at that age.
