Fantasy worlds, magical creatures, epic stories, video games...these were all big factors in my imaginings growing up. So I figured, why not roll them all into one? With "The Game" I wanted to tell a story that I would have loved at this age while also sneaking in some food for thought.
With the prevalence of online gaming communities and internet influencers, the situation Reece finds himself in is one that many children and pre-teens will relate to. While teaching, I noticed the number of students going online and using social gaming platforms increased steadily every year. As more and more kids access online spaces, my hope is that this story will offer a launch pad for parents to have conversations with them about online safety.
